(PROVERBS 17:22
A merry heart doeth good like a medicine!)

We need to surround ourselves with things that are wholesome and clean.  Then we will be happier! They will make our spirits happy and  joyful. We are what we eat, "Physically and Spiritually." The books,  newspapers, television and even the jokes that we hear and tell are all feeding into us. It all becomes part of our mental and spiritual diets. What are you eating?

PHILIPPIANS 1:4 Always in every prayer of mine for you all making request with joy

PSALMS 126:2 Then was our mouth filled with laughter, and our tongue with singing: they said they among the heathen, The Lord hath done great things for them.

PROVERBS 15:13 A merry heart maketh a cheerful countenance: but by sorrow of the heart the spirit is broken.

PROVERBS 15:15 All the days of the afflicted are evil: but he that is of a merry heart hath a continual feast.

(This is serious, but I am trying to make a point. How the Lord teaches us from His Word about having cheerfulness and joyful laughter. How it's like a medicine.)

First There was a Lady that I knew. Lovely woman who served love into everyone's life at the hospital. Talked and prayed with everyone. Anyway, one day her mother fell ill and died in the nursing home. This little lady fell apart and ended up in the hospital herself with a terrible attack of "Rheumatoid Arthritis." Her heart was broken and she cried and cried. Bless her dear heart! Sadness over took her and all joy left her life. (She is better now, but it took along time to get joy back again.)

Second Now there was a man who had called "Cancer." After "prayer with all of his faith" he started filling his mind and heart with everything that he could find that was funny. Comic books, jokes, funny stories etc...Pretty soon the "Cancer" was in remission.---Did the laughter "coupled" with Faith help?---I think so! What do you think? Can laughter make your life happier? Start thinking of joyful things, it will! It will!

"Attitudes and how we perceive ourselves" in this world can give us cheer, or tear us down. Circumstances of life are really beyond our "total" control. --BUT--We don't have to eat (emotionally and physically) everything that comes our way. Learn to laugh at yourself and the world. Don't take life so seriously that you forget to enjoy it.

PHILIPPIANS 4:8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

Your "cheerful attitudes" can make a world of difference on the outcome of your circumstances, and make it easier to get through the hard times. Filling your mind and heart with "good clean laughter" is better than any medicine and a lot easier to swallow. Your cheerful attitudes can also effect the way people feel when they are around you.

PROVERBS 17:22 A merry heart doeth good like a medicine: but a broken spirit drieth the bones.

When you are cheerful around other people (even if you are feeling down,) they respond cheerfully. Your cheerfulness, makes them have a "cheerful attitude" around you. Believe it or not "Happiness breeds happiness."

Think of it this way, "have you ever been around someone who is laughing really hard, yet you don't know why they are laughing, then you start to laugh, I can't tell you how many times that has happened to me. I'm laughing, I don't know why I'm laughing, I'm just laughing. Their laughter rubbed off onto me, and I became happy with laughter. Good Clean laughter is the best kind of medicine. It helps bring about inner healing as well as our faith and trust in the Lord.
